Royalwood Stud was established in 1990. Hailing from the Hawkesbury area in NSW the stud relocated in 2004 to nearby Wilberforce, situated on the beautiful Hawkesbury River. We are a small, selective stud aiming to breed ponies, galloways and small hacks of the highest quality. We set out to produce an elegant type with pony character, correct movement, trainability and of course natural showring presence.
We have achieved this in firstly obtaining the beautiful Riding Pony colt 'Syon Royal Portrait' from the UK in 1990 and then retaining his magnificent son 'Royalwood Boy Soprano'. Portrait was to set the path for ponies being bred and produced at Royalwood. He has met and exceeded all of our expectations consistantly siring top quality stock. I can comfortablely say he has been one of the most current influential sires of show horses in Australia.
Other great stallions who also made Royalwood home, all being sons of Portrait, have been 'Oakvale Serenade' (sold to WA), Harrington Park State Affair (now residing in Qld) and Royalwood Boy Soprano (current resident sire at Royalwood).
The stud has sourced and utilised some beautiful female lines of the highest quality, the majority of which also boast an impressive show career.
We aim to make available our stallions to public stud as well as a few quality youngsters for sale each season. Having enjoyed much success with our in-hand and ridden stock, all at the highest level of competition, we are always mindful of the importance of sound conformation and trainability as well as beauty.
